The Board of Peace will brief international representatives on efforts to reconstruct Gaza under the plan of U.S. President Donald Trump during a meeting on September 23, coinciding with the United Nations General Assembly in New York. This gathering aims to assess progress and outline future priorities for the region’s recovery.
Participants will include Board members, international partners, mediators, and representatives from United Nations agencies and the European Union. The discussions will focus on negotiations concerning the disarmament of Hamas and other armed factions, as well as strategies for governance and humanitarian projects in Gaza.
A committee of Palestinian technocrats is expected to present a detailed overview of 71 planned projects set for implementation in the first six months. However, these initiatives remain delayed due to unresolved issues regarding the disarmament of armed groups in the area.
While the Board of Peace is advocating for progress on the disarmament front, significant obstacles remain, particularly with Israel’s opposition to key aspects of the proposal. Israeli cooperation is deemed crucial for advancing both the reconstruction and governance efforts in Gaza.
