EPC Begins Mass Production of 100V GaN Power Stages for Motor Drives

Efficient Power Conversion (EPC) has launched mass production of its 100 V integrated gallium nitride (GaN) power-stage IC family, which includes models EPC23108, EPC23109, EPC23110, and EPC23111. These ePower™ Stage ICs are crafted for high-performance motion-control applications, incorporating high-side and low-side eGaN® FETs, gate drivers, and level-shifting circuitry in compact, thermally enhanced QFN packages. The devices can operate up to 100 V with current ratings of 35 A and 20 A, aimed at boosting power density and efficiency while simplifying system design.

The product lineup features fast fault shutdown, safe gate control during power-loss conditions, and continuous 100% duty-cycle operation, alongside single-input PWM options for multi-axis motor-control applications. Additionally, EPC is offering three-phase BLDC motor-drive evaluation boards—EPC91128, EPC91129, EPC91130, and EPC91131—built around these new power-stage ICs. These platforms include essential components like gate drivers, current and voltage sensing, housekeeping power supplies, and temperature monitoring and protection functions.

Available through EPC’s global distribution network, including Digi-Key and Mouser, these new devices target applications such as humanoid robots, drones, industrial motor drives, medical equipment, synchronous rectification, and high-density DC-DC converters. The pricing is set at US$3.70 each for the EPC23108 and EPC23109 models, while the EPC23110 and EPC23111 are priced at US$2.47 each, based on orders of 3,000 units. The evaluation boards, EPC91128 and EPC91129, are priced at US$640 each, with EPC91130 and EPC91131 at US$630 each.

In conjunction with the product release, EPC is also publishing a technical white paper in both English and Chinese. This document will delve into the architecture, design considerations, and evaluation platforms for the new integrated GaN power-stage ICs.
