Paris Saint-Germain emerged victorious in the UEFA Super Cup, overcoming Aston Villa with a 2-1 win in a thrilling match held in Salzburg. The French side took an early lead in the 20th minute when Khvicha Kvaratskhelia showcased his skill by cutting inside Matty Cash and launching a formidable shot past Villa’s goalkeeper, Marco Bizot.

Aston Villa, however, was quick to retaliate, with their young star, 17-year-old Brian Madjo, playing a pivotal role. Madjo, who created multiple opportunities, managed to level the score just before the break. He expertly volleyed a cross from John McGinn, making history as the youngest player to score in the competition.

In the second half, PSG reclaimed their lead shortly after the hour mark. Ousmane Dembélé set up Désiré Doué with a precise pass that allowed him to break through Villa’s defense and score. Initially, the goal was disallowed for offside, but a VAR review revealed that Matty Cash had kept Doué onside, thus validating the goal.

Aston Villa continued to press hard in the game’s final stages, eagerly seeking another equalizer. They came close when Warren Zaïre-Emery made a decisive block to thwart João Gomes, and in the dying moments, Emi Buendía narrowly missed with a header. Despite their efforts, Villa could not find the back of the net again.

Ultimately, PSG’s resilience paid off as they held onto their lead to clinch the Super Cup. The victory adds another accolade to their collection under the guidance of manager Luis Enrique, affirming their dominance in European competitions.
